- Post-Christmas December 2006: We met with a local adoption agency. Almost immediately, we decided to pursue international rather than domestic adoption.
- January-Feb 2007: Research countries and agencies to use for international adoption
- Feb 26, 2007: Signed on with Little Miracles to adopt from Kaz
- Late April, 2007: Homestudy complete
- Early May, 2007: Send in I171-H
- Mid-July, 2007: Receive I171-H
- Mid-July to early-August, 2007: Finished paper chase
- August 9, 2007: Sent dossier to LMI for translation
- Sept 10, 2007: Dossier is sent to Consulate
- Oct 5, 2007: Our dossier is in Kaz
- Nov 19, 2007: Our documents are in Aqtobe, and LOI process commences.
- Jan 25, 2008: Still waiting on LOI!
So, we've been working on this adoption for over a year. We have wanted to start a family since we married in 2003. While these last few weeks have seemed incredibly lllooonnnggg, we have been waiting for KK for an even longer time. We are beyond ready to meet KK and complete our family.

Wow that is a long wait from it getting to the region. It seems like the journey can be really long for some or really short for others. I'm following some blogs of people who submitted their dossier in March, and they don't even know their region yet!
Why was your dossier hold up for a few months in the US? I hear most of kaz shut down for a month during the holidays, so maybe your wait is not so terrible when you take out a month. Maybe next week!
Okay, I am quite certain that I have figured this out. They are just waiting for Zahri and I to leave before sending you your LOI. Well, fairly good news, my appeal period is up this coming Saturday the 2nd, so if I am right, you should technically be getting your LOI this coming week. :) Let's see. Just a guess, but it just has to be coming SOON! Crossing my fingers for you! :) Sheesh people, send Karla and Ben their LOI for goodness sakes!

What a long, hair-pulling process that will end very happily. My only experience with adoption is through Brian and Angie O'Neill, and both of their adoptions were kind of miracles. Thanks for inviting us to your blog. We look forward to follwoing the progress of adoption.
OH! The PROCESS! Both our acoptions were domestic and truly dream-come-true easy, but SO A-TYPICAL. We have an aunt and uncle who adopted 2 girls from Bulgaria and another aunt and uncle who adopted 2 boys from Bulgaria. It was drawn out and felt like forever, but it all just takes time. When we were looking into International, we liked Kaz and China and Korea. Guatemala was out due to some pretty shady practices in the country. Do you know how long it will be from the time you are chosen to the time you go and take little KK home?
